Rune Fjellanger

Rune Fjellanger is a trained biologist with a bachelor's degree in natural sciences and a master's thesis on the dog's sense of smell (title: Development of a method for determining the odor threshold in dogs).

Rune Fjellanger has worked with dogs for 40 years, in everything from training mine dogs to working with problem behavior in dogs. In the last 31 years, he has also been the owner of Fjellanger Hundesenter, a course and education center for dogs and dog owners, which per To date, 12 dog trainers are employed.

For almost 10 years, Rune worked on international projects commissioned by the UN in connection with the development and documentation of methods for training mine detection dogs. As a member of an expert group (Advisory Group) under the auspices of the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), he had a central role in the development and implementation of the first industry standard for mine detection dogs (International Mine Action Standard - IMAS).

In the last 10 years, Rune has focused mostly on research and development, working as general manager of the Fjellanger Detection & Training Academy (FDTA). This is a business that has concentrated on research and development, where today it has acquired expertise in behavioral sciences, chemistry, engineering and data analysis. The leading expertise has been optimization of training methods for special search dogs, education and quality control. Since December 2018, Rune has prioritized his commitment to the training of explosive detection dogs and now offers his service to contractors and builders with the subsidiary Nordisk Sprengstoffhund.
